Ya you can replace them with 5.25 in speakers. Ideally you would need to modify the oem baffles.

Unscrew the front speaker piece from the back.
Take the front piece and draw its outline on mdf board.
Cut it out.
Dremel down the rear part, so that the new front wood piece will screw on. Cut out a hole for the speaker (you want the hole to be lower then the oem speaker).
Then put the wood piece onto the old plastic piece and screw them together. Dremel cut off the screws that appear on the back side of the plastic. This will allow the baffle to slide back into the car
Optionally, use some kind of filler wherever their is a gap between the old baffle and the new wooden side.

I did this and its not hard but does require some trail and error. Also when you mount the speaker into the mdf, you have to make sure the speakers wont hit the door panel. Thats why i say mount them lower then them oem speakers.

4" for the mids

What size are the tweets

and the sub is a 10" correct?

I have a bit more of an exacting question for you guys....is it possible to use the two signal leads going to the factory sub ( assuming i disconnect its small amp ) to hook a seperate larger amp up and power a new 10" sub?

http://www.intellexual.net/faq/lexusstereo.swf

this might help you and yes the sub woofer is 10 in. But i would NOT remount a subwoofer their unless you do somekind of setup with a really shallow box above the gas tank. Free air woofers suck and any high watt woofer will vibrate between it and the rear deck.

Also if you want to add your own amp and power a larger woofer yes its possible. I would get a line-out converter to turn the input signal into rca an aftermarket amp can use.

I would use a more powerful free air shallow mount sub, thanks for the info on how to run an amp off the stock lines.

I dont believe any 4" will fit perfectly, they will all take a little tinkering.

I installed 6.5" components in the front with the crossover box in the doors as well. Also put in a new 10" sub for the rear. The stock setup blows compared.

When I replaced mine, I believe I ordered a set of MB Quarts that were 4" off ebay. It was their lower line at the time, and a set of 4 (2 sets of 2) cost me about $100 at the time. They pretty much fit right in, minus the way their mounting bracket was designed. You had to have one person holding the speaker, and another person securing it, otherwise the damn thing would constantly move.
