Just bought my baby, a 2003 ES300. She's great in everyway except for one thing....the SOUND SYSTEM SUCKS!!!! I have the stock one with 6-cd changer. It's ok, I just need a little more bass and clearer sound. My friend said I could buy a bigger subwoofer, but I run the risk of blowing out my speakers!

So I go to a car audio store, and they must have smelled the confusion on me. Because they basically try to sell me everything but the kitchen sink. I don't need a whole new system and I don't want a trunk full of speakers. I just need more bass. What things do I really need to replace for this upgrade?? Any suggestions? Manufacturers?


eta: I know someone posted a similar question already, but the reply was a little too technical for my understanding.

 

Find another car audio store. Ask your dealer who they use - they'll know Lexus vehicles and electronics. I would just get a better sub - you'll be suprized what a good foundation for the music will do for the rest of the audio spectrum. You''ll need an amp and 1 or 2 subs. And no - a sub won't blow out your other speakers (?)
