just installed subs
i have an 01 ls430
so i had a shop install my subs, but this morning my car barely started
the subs are draining my battery, now everything looks to be connected alright, but something just isnt right
its a 12'' rockford fosgate p2 with a 400 watt rockford fosgate amp rf2002
im thinking i may need a capacitor but not sure cause my friend had bigger subs and more and nothing happend to his battery
also i saw he connected to the fuse box on the passenger side to something labeled acc, is that air conditioning or what is it?
thanks for your help

he went to the fuse box to get a remote amp turn on source. most of the time when you go to the fuse box people either jam a wire into a fuse or use one of those ghetto connector adapter. not the bets way to do it.
you can get a remote turn out from the factory amp. you dont need to go to the front of the car for that.
as far as your car not starting it had nothign to do with the size of the amp or the sub. if the guy tapped into the wrong side of the fuse it may see power all the time and keep your amp on all the time. this causes the amp to slowly drain your battery.
when you turn off the car completely go to the trunk and look at the amp. usually there is a light on it that is only suppose to be on when the amp is on. if the car is off and the amp is on that means he tapped into the wrong wire for amp turn on.
as far as a capacitor i dont think you need it. i have been running sub and speaker amps in most of my cars for years and never had a cap. never had problems either. the LS should have a decent alternator too. if anything i would get an optima yellow top battery.
in my SC in have a polk 500w mono sub amp and 400w speaker amp with no cap and no problems and no light dimming for over 3 years.
have the installer check to make sure the remote wire is properly connected.

First, your subs can't drain a battery. They draw no power. The amp that powers your sub may be the issue. You say that it is turning off when you turn off the car. Good. Pull the fuse on the 12v line that your amp uses for power. Charge the battery and wait a while. Do you still have a starting issue? Yes, then it isn't your amp. You effectively pulled it from the equation and the results were the same. Also check how the 12v power wire was attached to your batter. Was the battery post cleaned and everything bolted back tightly? If not, then your alternator is having a difficult time charging the battery with loose connections.
About the cap - search here for the Big 3 upgrade. I have posted links before from car audio guru Richard Clark on how useless a cap is.

well yeah when i ment subs draining my battery i ment the amplifier,
i did check that everything was bolted on tightly and everything was fine
now i went to advanced auto and had a battery test they said the battery was bad
so i replaced it for a autocraft titanium
works wonderfully!!
but my question is, should i keep it attached the to acc fuse or use a diffrent one?
