Default Amp fuse blows when i change sub. Why?

Ok i got a 2 sony xplode 12s and a 1200W xplode amp. Now when i take out the sony subs and throw in my single Rockford Fosgate 12in T1 and crank up the volume it blows my 30A fuse. Why does that happen? I would like to use the T1 cuz of space. And yeah i'm a music newbie.

Sounds like your impedance is too low on the T1. What is it? Dual 2 ohm voice coils? If wired in parallel you are showing a 1 ohm load to the amp. The amp may not be stable at that load. Usually an amp will go into protection mode when shown a "too low" impedance. But if the protection circuit is bad or broken then it may cause the amp to draw more current that the fuse rating. Thus popping the fuse.

Check the configuration of the subs wiring first to ensure it is wired in series. Also confirm what impedance the voice coils are.

From there we can better troubleshoot the problem.

Check out crutchfield for their wiring diagrams and general information. Know your subs and amp. Such as 2 ohm or 4 ohm. Make sure they are wired correctly to match your amp. That could be causing the fuse to blow.

Hope this helps.

Are you wiring it correctly? Does it only blow with the T1 or does it blow regardless? If it only blows with the T1, then it's probably too much for the amp to handle. If it blows regardless, you've got a short somewhere.

I had the same thing happen to me. I was drawing too much power on my setup and the amp never went into protection mode.

Blowing fuses is an "Xplode's" protection mode
