Default New headunit and amp *pics*

Recently installed a Kenwood DNX8120 ddin nav and Elemental Designs Nine.5 amp. At the moment I'm using my brother's 2 10" JL W6v2. Here's a few pics.

that is a very good setup. elemental design make some awesome amps and JL w6v2 are great. ive had a 12w6v2 before and it was amazing.

im not a big fan of kenwood. i would have rather gone with a pioneer, like a Z2, but its still better then stock

I have a similar setup with a kenwood headunit and a JL 12w6v2 and love it. Looks nice. BTW, where did you get your shift **** from? I've been looking for one like that forever!

Nice!

I have the european version of this unit myself...the DNX 8220BT. Installed it a couple of weeks ago...its the most complete 2-DIN system out there as of today

Yours has the DSP i take it? (time aligment/serious eq etc.)

EDIT: Thanx for the pic of the unit installed in the OEM-facia. I use the BestKits one myself, but have just ordered the OEM...cause it looks so much better!

Where i work we sell both Pioneer and Kenwood amongst other brands....but off these two brands...and where staying with 2-DIN head units...Kenwood gets my money any day of the week Neither Pioneer, or any other brand for that matter, has got a more complete/better equipped 2-DIN headunit as of today

I really wanted a nine5 when they had them on sale but I just wanted more power for the sub stage. Awesome amp though and nice setup.

Came with the car. I've seen a few members selling them now and then. Check the FS threads.

Thanks. The amp is 5 ch (100 x 4, and 300 x 1 @ 4ohm). I have the sub channel at 1.5ohms at the moment and on paper that's about 500-ish but actual tests have shown it's about 800w @ 1ohm.

Yea, it has time alignment and a whole boat load of other audio adjustments. You'll probably need the manual to figure everything out.

The HU I got on a preorder special for $1280. Retail is $1600. The amp I also got on a sale was $350. For that price I don't think you could get a better 5 channel amp out there.

I agree. I looked at DDIN units that was out at the time and the Kenwood had the most features builtin than any other unit. It has builtin bluetooth; you had to buy seperately for the pioneer, it has usb; pioneer has none. Many people who've own both say the garmin based nav on the kenwood are better than the nav on pioneers.

Definately...and the real upside of the Kenwood in reality being a Garmin-unit...you can source many interesting tings...such as speedcamera-warnings...and you "might" even find new and updated maps on thepiratebay.org Not to mention its MUCH easier to use than the Pioneer-navi. Theres a reason why Pioneer gave up on handheld navis

That is a very clean setup. The hu looks very nice. That box looks a little small for the 2 10" w6. Hows the sq?
