Question ML settings unbalanced?

Does anyone know if the speaker balance and fader settings on an ML system should not be equally loud? I could swear, for example, the right front speaker is definetly louder than the left front. When I use the balance & fader it is the most noticable. I was thinking, maybe it's the Nav system screwing it up. The Nav lowers the volume of the left front while giving directions. Maybe it's stuck somehow? I was also thinking maybe it's set to appear balanced only from the drivers seat.

Could someone try it? Switch between the left and right fronts and see if there's any noticeable difference in volume. I appreicate anyone's insight here.

I have the ML on my 2001 GS430. My problem is that sometimes the rear sound louder than the front. My fix is to fade it fully to the rear then to the front and finally to the center position '0'. I also notice that the treble and bass also seem to be better balance if I also cycle to the -5 then to +5 and finally to my normal setting of Treble @ +5 and Bass @ +1.

My guess is it has to be something with the electronic control system.

My ML amplifier was replaced under warranty due to the ASL system going full volume at startup (a known problem with earlier ML systems). The tone control and balance problem was the same on both amplifiers therefore I suspect there is nothing that can be done.
