Default sound quality needs improvement

i am having a 15" rockford fosgate sub installed within the next week. i have all the parts but im waiting for a box to be finished up. after that, i think i want to do something to my current speakers. im thinking of boston accoustics pro60's with a JL cleansweep. would this be pretty good? what's a "DSP"? I know its a digital sound processor, but what does that really mean? Is there a different in sound quality or something? is a cleansweep a dsp?

Cleansweep uses DSP equalizers to remove any frequency shaping (equalization) present in the source signal. The source is now flat, like a nice aftermarket unit. But to get the best from your car system, you need to tune the EQ, which means adding yet another EQ unit, since Cleansweep does not let you add your own EQ curve. And if at all possible, you want parametric EQ.

Have a look at the AudioControl DQL-8. Lot's of good features.

i heard that the cleansweap dsp was a good investment, but you're making me think its not. would you notice a difference? is it worth the money?

EQ is very important, and of the two products being discussed, I'd take the DQL-8.

If you're not handy tuning car EQ, you might have a look at the new Alpine EQ unit with Audissey. If it works as claimed, it ought to do a great job.

What's "missing" from your system? Not enough clarity? Midrange? There are different levels of SQ.
