defective channel in multi-channel amp
i was getting a crackling sound from a the left front speaker in my car and thought the speaker was blown or was touching ground somewhere. So i rewired the entire car today, and i realized that the 2nd channel of my amp is what is causing the crackling sound in my speaker. the remaining speakers hooked to the other channels are fine. Whenever i try to connect a speaker to it, it cuts the music even from the remaining three speakers for a quick sec and then brings it all back with the crackling sound/cutting off from the speaker connected to the 2nd channel.
i connected the speaker to another channel and it works fine. i then connected a different speaker to that channel and the problem happened again. thats how i knew it was that channel that had a problem.
What could cause this single channel to be acting up?
Is my amp toast? Can the channel be fixed?
any info is appreciated.

what kind of amp? it can probably be fixed by sending it to the manufacturer, but it'll cost you unless you know someone who can make a receipt for you. go get to know your local warranty guy at a car audio shop
trust me, we can work magic sometimes

the amp is actually an Alpine V12 FX353. i don't know if any warranty claim can be done as i got this used from a local guy about a year ago.
any other options on fixing this? or should start looking for another amp?

90X2 for front
60X2 for rear
at least 150X1 for sub
all RMS
which not-too expensive amp can get me this?
and i really would like the rear fill
as i know a lot of folks here would say"just forget the rear speakers". Nope, i bought them and so i will use them
. i dont mind an amp that can only give 80-90% of what is needed.
thanks

Your simplest answer is something that's 85~100 x 4 plus a sub channel OR with a seperate amp for the sub-- Maybe the cheapest too--
Here's an older model PPI pcx 5800 5ch in mint condition-- BUY IT!! It's about $350 shipped--
50x4 4ohm, 100x4 2ohm, sub= 200x1 4ohm, 400x1 2ohm -- 12.5v -- At 15v, the 4ch section will do more like 70x4 -- More than enough-- I promise it's a good bit stronger than that V12-- and cleaner-- These are top notch -- not many better

----------------------------
An MTX 5400x can do the job well too - I promise you wouldn't be disappointed-- 70x4 is 12.5v -- so at 15v it's about 85x4 -- plus a 220x1 2ohm sub channel that's class d as well--
You can still find them out there- sometimes on ebay and craigslist-- They were only rated at 25x4, but ---

The ED amp is top shelf-- check their forum and other audio forums- they're seeding the market --
That ppi amp is gonna be hard to beat-- it's the old US built line-- mint-- really hard to beat--
