I am looking into buying a navigational system for my car. I own a lexus is 250. Im going off to college in a year and need to know where everything is, realy dont know where everything is where i live now. But would yall suggest just getting a lexus gps system or some other modle.
Suggestions are appreciated, i as well was wonding what the cost of installing and buying one would be.
If money is really not an issue then by all means get the OEM nav. But your best bet is to get an aftermarket nav. It comes down to what you want, nav, dvd, mp3, etc. I went with an Eclipse unit because their parent company Fujitsu Ten makes OEM radios and nav for Toyota/Lexus. It's also expandable like satellite, Ipod, HD radio, backup camera, etc. Depending on which nav you choose it could be anywhere from around $1k-$2.5k. Installation will probably run you around $100-$200 or more depending on what you have done.
I am willing to spend up to 2k $.
I dont want soemthing that looks cheap, like some do. Does anyone know an exzact amount to how much the lexus navi would cost me and if i would be able to just go to the dealer ship i got the car at to get it.
I have had Garman, Acura, and Lexus GPSs and suggest that you get a portable Garmin 2610, Navi, or 7200 for your use. At least look at these Garmin models before buying one (www.Garmin.com). After owning and using all three I rate them Garmin first, Acura second, and Lexus third. When you're at college you may like the flexibility of being able to take your Garmin GPS with you in a friends car or use it in you dorm room for planning.

Don't know the exact amount but I'm pretty sure it's going to cost more than $2k. I'm a little bias but I would advise you to go with an Eclipse unit. Either something like the AVN5510 or the AVN6610. But don't get a flip out unit.
The avn5510 looks nice, but would it fit the same as a lexus would. Dont want it to look out of place.
The garmin is what my father suggested, cheaper works the same, and im able to use it in any car. thanks for the good feedback
