Ok, I gotta alot of questions....first off I have an IS350 with the stock headunit and want to keep the headunit stock...
1. Anyone install an eq? If so what kind and what were the total cost?
2. What is the crossover frequency for the stock headunit to the sub.
3. What is the crossover frequency for the stock headunit to the midbass speaker up front.
3. Anyone know where I can download a "good" frequency tone from around 10Hz - 20K Hz (with a flat volume of course).
I have a Radio Shack spl meter which i used to "flatten" my Home Theater System and want to do the same for my car.

you are expecting way too much out of that stock setup. it'll sound alright, but no where near an aftermarket setup....or maybe it's just the beer talking....
uhm....stock headunit....I have a 4 channel pre 1997 a/d/s amp and a punch with a 12" momo in the trunk....

To equalize a stocker... have you tried the Rockford Fosgate 3sixty lineup? I can't tell you anything about the IS stocker.

Crossover frequencies for your sub..hmm I think 80hz and below should be good. And for your midrange, 80-3000hz..tweeter 3000hz+.
I believe there's a program out there called a tone generator, you'd have to google it. What it basically does is create any frequency you'd like at whatever reference volume level you want it at.

Do you have the correction table for the particular meter you are using? If not, you may be off by 10db at some frequencies. Galaxy has more accurate meters. In fact Sonny Parker at Home Theater Shack and some other guys tested them against a calibrated Behringer mic and the response is very good. Also, Sonny has been selling one model for around $95 shipped. Not a bad deal.Originally Posted by juin21

PAS has a really good spectrum analyzer program that includes a tone generator-- but you'll need to run that on your laptop--

For Tones, get a Test CD. There's a CBS/Denon test disc, and Bass Mekanik (easy to get). Pop it into your CD player, select the desired track for the freq you want, or sweep, or whatever, and away you go. Cheap.Originally Posted by juin21
