Question Whistler Radar Detectors Any Good?

Does anyone know if the Whistler Radar detectors any good? Or can some one recommend a good radar/ laser detector in the $100 range?

I currently have a radio shack one which I got on sale for 30 and it sucks.

Thanks

If you are going to get a new detector, I would get a good one. Cheap ones just don't do the trick. Do your own research. www.radarbusters.com But I would recommend an Escort, Valentine or highend Bel.

Escort 8500... In my opinion it is the best one out there... I have had escort since 1987 and I have not found one to work better.... just my $.02

I like the Bel RX 65. It has good KA detection and looks good It ramps up well to a threat and isn't too expensive. It is out of your 100 dollar range, but well worth the investment if you do lots of driving.

Don't pretend that a radar detector will save you from tickets though because you can't do anything about instant on, and by the time the Laser alerts you, it's too late. It's just helpful to serve as a reminder to check your speed and makes for a fun game of guess the number of cops to be found.

I would not even think of getting any detector other than the Passport 8500. Everything else is a waste of money...and believe me, I have wasted lots. Get one on eBay for around $200 and you will not regret it.
