Need to modify sub enclosure with Rear STB?
Hey guys.
Quick question: I plan on installing a UGO Rear STB soon. (That is manaray's car in the pic)
Also In the near furure, I will be replacing the OEM sub with a drop in replacement.
Does it matter which one I do first?
Even with a drop in sub replacement, do you have to change the enclosure? No, I don't know which sub I'm getting yet, but it will be the same diameter.
TIA

Mounting Depth
Dex - It really depends on the mounting depth of the sub - I'm assuming it's gonna be a free-air like the JL IB4 ( depth of 4.5" )?
I don't think they'll hit each other as the STB doesn't seem to come up that high but I don't have one to yield firsthand experience.

You should clear just fine. The Vel that I have in the car has a much lower magnet assembly...probably 6.5 inches in depth, plus it's bottom mounted. No worries from what I can see.

If you put the sub in first, and it's BIG it might be a bit more awkward putting the brace brackets over the strut mounts, but assuming that's not hard, you can then just connect the mounts with the bar easily.
So to answer your question: "I doubt it."
