If you don't have another "master-key" to cut (off of) Your going to have to go by VIN through the dealer.

programing a remote to you car...you have to have the master key.

Plus those keys that have the remote built in are for 98' or newer I thought.

Oh I see, the metal key broke from the plastic holder...gotcha

In that case, go and get any generic $15 master blank from eBay and go nuts.

But check into those remote/key combo's I'm pretty sure they are only for
98's on up.

My lexus dealer cut my generic blanks for free.

Also reprogramming a fob is like doing the Hokie Pokie with your car.
open this, turn that, close this, lock, unlock, open this again, clap your hands, lock this, turn that...its like 58 steps and if you F-up... congrats!!! Start all over again.

I did a reprogram on a eBay fob with a post on CL...but your going to have to search for it man....good luck

I went to a local mall the other month and ask how much was it to copy a Lexus SC key and I even showed them how it looks like. They said 60 bucks. No need for a 300 dollar key at a dealer man. Go for an autostart alarm

If you want a key only: Yellow pages and go under locksmithing. They make a key on the spot.

If you want a key WITH the keyless entry thingie: Go to the dealer.

If you want both with alarm: Autostart alarm babie

I checked your profile and it looks like you have a 94 SC300.

Here's a link on how to program your master key.

Check post# 3 (DaveGS4 provided some links to different threads) and post#10 (for DIY)

Hope it helps.

I bought one of the master remote blanks off of ebay for my 99 LS. Dealers in Dallas would not cut it for me. Wanted me to buy one of their $200 keys instead. Found a good locksmith down the street who cut it for $30. I then followed the programming instructions that came with the key and it works perfectly.

Wow, you guys are getting charged a little high for the cut.

I had mine cut for $10 and this is the same quote from a couple of places.

98+ is where you can open up the and transfer the transmitter to a different blank shell.
97> is where it's permanent.

You should always contact a locksmith first. You may have to make a few calls to find one that does Lexus but you will save time and money. Who do you think car dealers call anyway? Sure you can order the blank on ebay but you can get it for around the same price from your local locksmith today and cut to fit to boot. If you are driving a transponder equiped Lexus (97 up) and have only one key you are playing with fire. Minimum 800.00 to make one when you have no key.
