Default New Dynaudio drivers

Just spoke with a person over at Dyn - they're redesigning most of the lineup to have improved voice coils, better suspension and a more intense magnet (non neo) structure. Cone geometry hasn't changed, nor has the cones themselves.

Numbering scheme has also been changed to reflect on the improvements. Example... MW160 for the old model, MW162 for the new. System 240 will probably called System 242.

Expect them in about a month or so. Pricing not availabe when I spoke to the Dyn rep.

Honestly I'm glad to hear this. Most of their drivers have not been majorly updated within 10 years of production. Can't wait to hear them!

That's how good they are, and STILL are. Dyn rarely rests on their laurels. For them to update their car audio drivers, as state of the art as they are, shows that they want to raise the bar. Their esotar 2 tweeter is still in the works, and alot of companies will cry uncle if they release them. Heck, they're already crying uncle with the MD330 tweeter...that's about as state of the art as you can get!

If you test any speaker side by side with the dyns, you can always tell them apart. Exceedingly neutral, maybe a *tad* of midbass warmth, but soooo clean! The other speaks in the shop that I listened to a few years back just sounded completely flat, or too harsh by comparison. But then, for the people that have dyns, I don't have to convince them of how GOOD they are!

I might give them a try. The last set I heard (Dyn 360) sounds very nice, but a tbit too warm on the midbass, and not as dynamic as I like. But that's just me. I've heard great things about the esotar tweeters, and I wouldn't mind running them, but i'm not a fan of poly-type cones (for midrange)

Time to give my local shop a visit.
