Default Allowing passenger to operate NAV

Anybody found a way to override the NAV system in a 2006 RX330 while in motion? My passenger can operate the NAV system while I am driving but the system won't let you. The passenger airbag knows when there is a passenger in the car. Can't the NAV system be wired to work when the passenger is onboard?
