I'm installing a simple Ipod integration kit made for Eclipse headunits with a CD changer input.
This kit is a Peripheral ipod/eclipse kit w/ harness. It can be purchased on line here and here.
This company might offer a harness for lexus OEM changer, you will have to check.

This kit will allow users to skip songs (within a playlist) without picking up the ipod, which tends to be dangerous at times.
I addition it also charges the ipod and turns on and off when the radio is turned on or off.

I believe the new AVN 6600 controls the ipod, but I'm not planning on upgrading anytime soon.

Here's everything unpacked...

 

The only bare wire connection is a constant 12 volt connection...

 

I went ahead and installed a female quick disconnect (more on this later)...

 

Here's my AVN2454...

 

After pulling off the top vents and disconnecting the hazard and clock plugs, I used a pick and poped off the small trim piece under the climate control...

 

I found a perfect location to mount the control unit. Its mounted to the left of the radio with double sided tape since there's no mounting provisions provided by the control unit. Sorry, its a little hard to see...

 

Here's the Eclipse changer cable plugged into the control unit...

 

Again I used a pick to pop off the center shifter plate to run the plug for the ipod...

 

For the 12 volt connection I pulled the wire around the back of the carpet...

 

The power wire goes to my fuse block that i use for low amperage connections (constant 12v). Sorry about the blurry pic...

 

For now I decided to run the wire to the center armrest...

 

Finished.
The job only took about 30 min.

 

I believe that Eclipse makes their own iPod module like Alpine that you can control the ipod the the screen.

 

Yeah but its not for the older ones like mine.
