I wanted to get your guys' expertise on my setup to see whether there's anything you feel will not fit together, or should be added. I have been told to buy dynamat, but I have no idea which ones to get. I also don't know what additional wiring I will need to purchase. I know people say not to get coaxials and to just do front staging, but I do want the people sitting in back to hear it. Below is what I plan on doing:

- Head Unit: Eclipse AVN 2454
SPECS: Power Supply: 13.2V DC (11-16V), Current Drain: 3.5A (0.5W), Power Output: 50 watts x 4 (MAX), Lineout Output Level: 0.8V (0dB)

- Subs: (2) Dual 12" 4 Ohm Alpine Type R subs (RMS - 500W ; peak power - 1500 W)

- Box: Subzone Sealed Box

- Amp to power coax and component: I have no idea what type of amp the speakers will need. Any suggestions appreciated

- Amp to power sub: HiFonics BX1605D (1100x1 @ 2 Ohm/1600x1 @ 1 Ohm)

- Component Speakers: CDT EF-61 - 6.5" speakers, Tweeter 3/4 inch dome, Impedance 4 Ohm, Power 120 watt RMS

- Coaxial Speakers: CDT EF-61NeoX - 6.5" speakers

Dynamat Xtreme works good and is very light compared to the original Dynamat.

I'd recommend against getting the 2454 if given a choice to get a newer model. The 2454 has a very low voltage output that can cause issues in many setups

And it sticks better than the original Dynamat

Why do you have two of the same thread?

Thank you for the responses. It seems like the problems I have with my current setup are two-fold:

1. I need to get some brand of dampening material. As to which one, I am still debating.

2. My component and coaxial speakers need to be powered by a separate amp or a combo between a separate amp and my head unit.

Again below is my setup for your reference:

HU: Eclipse AVN 2454 (SPECS: Power Supply: 13.2V DC (11-16V), Current Drain: 3.5A (0.5W), Power Output: 50 watts x 4 (MAX), Lineout Output Level: 0.8V (0dB))
Component Speakers: CDT EF-61 - 6.5" speakers, Tweeter 3/4 inch dome, Impedance 4 Ohm, Power 120 watt RMS
Coaxials: CDT CL-6X - 6", Mid Range, Mounting Depth 2.5", Power 80 Watts, 4 Ohms
Subs: (2) Dual 12" 4 Ohm Alpine Type R subs (RMS - 500W ; peak power - 1500 W)
Box: Subzone Sealed Box
Amp to Power Subs: HiFonics BX1605D (1100x1 @ 2 Ohm/1600x1 @ 1 Ohm)
Amp to Power Components: US Amps 85X4 or 150X2 bridgeable
Amp to Power Coaxials: Use the Eclipse AVN 2454 Head Unit.. I'm not sure to get an amp only for the coaxials or do I need one for all speakers?

The solution for the two issues that seemed like a good fit were:

1. I will be using Raamat sound dampening. It is supposed to be a bigger bang for the buck than dynamat. It sounds like everyone says to get about 60 sq feet for the 2000 Lexus GS300, is this enough?

2. This is a tougher one. I don't know whether to get one amp to power my CDT components and coaxials, or to have my Eclipse AVN2454 power my coaxials, and have a separate amp (like the USAmps 85X4 or 150X2 bridgeable) just for the components. I really need help finding the a good match here. I don't want to spend so much, but do want to take advantage of the potential of the speakers. If you have recommendations on specific products you think would work well, that would help alot.

I personally would run the USAmp bridged to the front CDT's and use the h/u's internal power to power the rear coaxials.

Be sure the apply lots of the rammat on the front doors, since the added power to the CDT's would create lots of midbass.

Also take extra caution while adjusting the gains and crossover for the front speakers (USAmp's are usually underrated).
While playing a CD with lots of dynamic bursts i.e. extreme highs for female vocals and extreme lows for male vocals/drums (I usually adjust amps w/ Madonna's The Immaculate Collection [w/o the aid of an RTA and pinknoise]):
Start with the radio's volume turned about 3/4~7/8 up (hopefully there's no distortion).
For the gains, start with the lowest setting then slowly turning it up until you hear distortion, then back it up a few notches, or until its gone.
For the crossover, start with a highpass of around~120hz and slowly work down and at the same time carefully listen for signs of distortion and/or bottoming out.

As for sound damping check out Elemental Designs, I installed their products a few times and its a pretty "good bang for the buck."

I would run the us amp in four channel mode and power the comps and coaxs 85 watts is more than plenty for front and rear,I have a Crossfire 404 for my comps and coaxs which is about 50 watts rms at 12 volts and my subs are powered by a Crossfire 1000d monoblock and my interior speakers are loud and clear. As far as crossover set up 100hz should do you fine if you have a 18db or 24db crossover slope you can play a little lower because the cutoff is steeper
