I want install a Kenwood headunit I had from my old car but read and was told I would need an amp to power the speakers and sub.
Will using a JL Audio A6450 to power the stock speakers of a 01 GS300 too much? I don't want to spend the money to install all new speakers. I'm also not competing just looking to see if this amp will work with the current speakers to be able to use my old deck.

As long as you "tweek" the amp properly, you can use as much power as you want. Before upgrading my speakers, I gave 1000 watts (of true JL Audio power) to my stock speakers and they were just fine. You have a good amp there so distortion (which destroys speakers quickly) wont be a problem, I'd be more worried about how much bass you throw at both the speakers and the woofer. Just keep your crossover points properly tuned and always listen for over powering the woofer. Since the woofer is for bass only, I'd be more worried about that rather than the speakers (only if the crossover points are done properly that is). Make sure the woofer not over extending itself.
