I've been having this question for a while now, I have a lot of CDR's that I've burnt over time, but only about 1/2 of them work in my stock CD changer in my 2000 GS4. I know some players are more "sensitive" than others, but I was just wondering if other members on the list have had COMPLETE success using their CDRs on their stock changer. If so, what I would like to know is the brand of the CDRs that you guys are using. I've tried a lot of different ones, but it still ends up being, a "try and lets hope I can listen to this CD in this car" ordeal. Thanks.
i have had hundreds of burnt cds and they have all worked for me in my 98 GS400. I have used all the cheap brands like Maxell, Sony, Memorex, Imation, PNY, Verbatim are all the ones i know have worked. hope that helps.
Are you guys burning the CDs Disc At Once (no gaps between songs), this seems to work all the time, but when I burn the usual way, 2 sec. gap between songs, then it doesn't always work in my GS?
I use cheapo no name brand cd's that come in a spool of 100.... all of them work for a while... but as soon as it gets a scratch on it, sound quality deteriorates and sometimes, the cd is unusable... that's why, I dont let anyone borrow my CD's anymore!!!
i think its what songs you put on as well, sometimes they can mess up the whole CD. i was just burning a CD that had a Custom .wav of my lexus engine for the last track, and it didnt go through... i dunno what it was, it burned and said theCD was fine but wouldn't play on any CD player anywhere:
PS2
Sanyo Mini System
DVD computer cd drive
Magnavox 5-CD changer
Harmon Karmardon 5-CD changer
GS300 Pioneer changer
That could be true too, b/c I've noticed that when I decode my mp3's into wav's then it doesn't always work in my GS, but it works everywhere else! The success rate seems to be higher when I'm just straight copying from other CDs though (WAV to WAV). Hmmm.
I've only used TDK's and have never had a problem with the actual playback. The only problem I've had is that the CDR's with a label in it gets stuck in the player.
I've used both data CD-R's in my computer and Digital Audio CD-R's in my audio burner- no issues. Currently in the process of burning approx. 20 volume set of a compilation of vinyl, me and my brother-in-law have accumulated over the years. Probably the hottest collection of club 12" singles from the 80's & 90's. We narrowed it down to about 300 songs from about 3000 singles we had.
