Alpine install question...
I remember seeing somewhere on here about someone who installed a motorized TV into their SC. I searched for a good 45 minutes last night for 'Alpine install SC' and other variations with no luck. I have an Alpine CVA-1004 model 6.5" motorized TV that I want to install in my '95 SC400. All the shops I've talked to have said $250 to install it. I REALLY don't wanna pay that just to have a headunit installed. Does anyone know how or have a DIY on how to install this? Is this something that should not be tried by a DIYer? If not, anyone in the Tampa area wanna make a couple dollars? I'm really wanting to get this screen in so any help is much appreciated!
i think you would have to get it done by a shop, it's cause you have a factory amp. and you would have to rewire to bypass the amp. unless you know how to do all that stuff.
but $250 for install that is a lot that they are asking for atleast $100 is a reasonable price IMO.

$250 is a tad on the high side, but not totally unreasonable. if you think about it, all alpine units have brains that need to be hidden so you are going to have to find a place for that and run wires accordingly. it's not like an Eclipse AVN where the whole thing is in the double din unit. plus add that on top of the fact of having to bypass the stock amp...you're not talking about a simple deck install.
Yes it is. The CVA-1004 does not have a brain. The entire screen/unit is self-contained in a single package that is only a single din. The DVD player would have to be mounted differently but that is not a huge problem as that would be mounted in the glove box.
Correction: $360 to install my CVA-1004 at Sound Advice!!!!!!!!!!! They say it's $50 for the amp bypass, $150 for the custom dash kit, and $160 for the actual install...now this is just retarded! Someone PLEASE show me how to do this or point me to a thread that will explain exactly how...I'm doing this crap myself.

try a local circuit city. assuming they local one has good installers it should be around 60ish for amp by pass, insatll on the monitior should be 100 and dash kit should be that much maybe about 40 to 50ish. i work at the Roadshop here in my home town thats what we would charge aprox. it is all up to the manager really. check them out though
