Do any of you guys know if the Eclipse nav systems front cover or "face" is removable, like the LCD? I would be afraid to install this system to have someone break in and steal it. If you can disconnect the LCD or front cover, I might actuaally get one.

I'm assuming that you bought it from a authorized dealer.
When you bought the radio you should have sent in a warranty card (along w/ a copy of the invoice) w/ information on your car. Within the first year if someone steals it and Eclipse can't find it, they will send you a new one. After the first year however, all they can do is try to find it. Think of it as a one year lojack for the radio.
BTW, if the dealer installed it, you will also get a 3 yr warranty.

I never understand why people worry about this....you can always put something in front of it when you park your car...or build a fake plate of some sort to go in front of it....put a graphic of a really cheezy stock radio on a fitted piece of plexiglas or something.

 

You definitely can remove the LCD screen....Once ..No seriously..it is not detachable.I havent activated my ESN cause Im scared Ill lose the friggin disk or forget which one it is.I have about 2000Cds..I am considering burning a CD then hiding it in the car but not sure if a copied disk would work..One of these days Ill try it..

 

how about u write ECLPISE DISK DONT THROW AWAY.. on it. then hide it somewhere in the car.

on another note. i was taking to my friends friend today..and he said alpine was better then eclipse... i felt i didnt wanna argue with him anymore.
