Default Lights Dimming?

Hey,

Before I go and install my system, I wanna get this checked first. When I have my headlights on, which in turn turns on all the interior lights, any time i use a power feature such as the seats or windows, all the lights dim with the usage. This happens whether the engine is on or not. Is it normal? I kno that when i use to have halogen bulbs in my headlights, they would dim on usage, but now that I have HIDs, they don't dim, just the foglights, which are still halogen. Help anyone?

Thanx,
Anthony

yea, i've had this problem before with my stock headunit. I also just had my battery relocated to the trunk, optima yellow top wired with 4 gauge wire. I heard from an audio shop that I should've went 0 guage, but the problem was there even before I relocated the battery to the trunk. So I'm stumped as to what is causing this. My mechanic thinks it's the alternator and that it's not pumping out enough juice, but that doesn't account for why it does it with the engine off and if it was the alternator wouldn't it just be either on or off in regards to working?

bump for anyone who knows a fix.

Sounds like the alternator's getting weak. Good time to upgrade if so. Look into Excessive Amperage alternators.

Also if you haven't done so yet, do the Big 3 wiring upgrade.

Bad ground, most likely battery cable to frame.
