Default Antenna Mast Installation

my old mast was broken, so i bought a new one from dealer, but here is the problem, i took the old broken mast out right from outside and tried feeding the mast from inside, it goes in but that white wire with the teeth on the mast doesn't feed in all the way i even tried turning the radio off, seems like 1/4 of the mast doesn't want to feed in, do i have to take motor assembly out? any help would be appreciated

thanks

you probably still have some of the old broken mast in the assembly, so yes you have to take out the assembly. when i did mine a year back i used this site:

http://www.carstereohelp.com/repairD...mryPwrAntR.htm

this is for a toyota camry, but its all the same thing, it doesn't take long at all, gluck.

Just got the mast installed, it was very straight forward process, i had to take the motor assembly out to get my old mast out, everything is working proper but only problem now is sometimes antenna doesn't retract all the way down, it sticks out like 5-6 inches, i don't know why is that, anyone with suggestions?

If you are sure that you got all of the old mast out then I would say maybe it is that the new mast didn't go in perfectly straight and is binding. That seemed to be the most difficult part of getting mine to work. It would work a few times then it would bind so bad that it would blow a fuse. Good news is, after I got it in straight I have not had any problems since.
