Thumbs up

Hey all,

I am a new member. I am currently looking for a Lexus to own. First off, i am a BIG fan of the Mark Levinson System. I think it is excellent. I currently own a '97 Honda CR-V with many audio modifications, including MB Quart Q series speakers, Xtant amps, and Alpine HU. I personally think that ML system sounds better than mine.

In addition to the above, i am a car enthusiast. I am still waiting to see what the '02 RX300 will bring...hopefully, a ML system!

Here is a review by a car audio magazine:

Have fun all.

That's because the ML system has more midbass and can actually handle more power in practical terms. (Rather than just numbers on a piece of slick glossy paper!)

The review is right about the soundstage not being that wide. The only speakers that I know of that will "disappear" and almost envelope you in a wide soundstage are the Dynaudio speakers. You can do a simple upgrade to a Pioneer/Premium equipped system with Dynaudio speakers and completely waste on the Mark Levinson system. Proved this to two dealerships and they still can't believe it.

As for the MBQ's, they're always a pain to tune out. Had them before and dumped them for the Dynaudios.

Then would Dynaudio's on a Mark Levinson system be outstanding? How much better than a Pioneer/Premium system?

Probably equal or better to an average aftermarket system. That's saying ALOT!

Question Pery...just the person i wanted to talk too

Percy, r u saying that if i replace my pioneer speakers w/ Dynaudio speakers, it would be as good as or better than the ML system??????? I have a 1992 SC300 and it has the Pioneer system but was upgraded to 280 watts like the Nakamichi system. Should I replace the speakers w/ Dynaudio for the best sound????? Also, (since it sounds like u know about his sound stuff) is the pioneer 10" sub a fairly good one, or could i replace it w/ something better?????I want to keep it a free air top mounted sub (like the fact. sub) b/c i dont want anything complicated.

Yep, you heard it right! Just swap them out for Dyns and you'll be all set. As for the stock sub, if you feed it more power, it can sound fairly good. But I'd swap it out for a good aftermarket speaker. If you're after no holds barred sound quality, go for nothing less than a Velodyne subwoofer.

Use the Dyn tweeters. They may be a pain to install, but they're one of the best tweeters out there for auto use.

My friends parents have a new C70 and since they have Dynaudio speakers standard, im gonna go and sit in their C70 and compare it to my SC300. Will post what i think.

An underpowered amp will do that to speakers quite easily. The more power for the Dyns, the happier they are.
