Question Can I install Nav update

I am going to order the navigation update from Darrel at Sewell. This is a 2000 GS. Is there anything hard about installing the update. This is NOT the DVD navigation. Darrel said is pretty easy, anyone done this yet. Thanks for any advice.

How much is the Hard Drive update? It should be pretty simple just take out the old hard drive and insert the new one inside the nav ecu.

It is $270 at Sewell with the discount. Local dealer wants $370 to do.

I think my local dealer wants like 300 also. The thing is however when you take it to a dealer I've heard they take your old hard drive and they keep it, as opposed to buying it Sewell you get to keep your old drive.

Default nav upgrade for 2000 LS400

I have a 2000 LS400 with nav and it has 1999 version software. It is a hard drive based system, not a dvd. The local Lexus Dealer in Augusta, GA, Jim Hudson Lexus wants $800 for a new hard drive. Mine works fine, I just would like to get the newer maps and more detail.

Does anyone know if I can hook the nav hard drive up to a PC and install some of the DVD based hardware?
How about ghosting or imaging a new version hard drive and install the image?
Has anyone found an upgrade any cheaper?
Has anyone upgraded the hard drive based system and was the improvement significant?

Any info anyone can share will be appreciated.

It has been 3 weeks, any update on your HD upgrade/reinstall?

Is it true that the HD data ends at 2003 and will not be updated anymore?
