Question Battery drain?!

Okay, I just picked up a "Video and TV Traveler" for 30 bucks! We went go into how I got it for that much, that's another story. It's not exactly the most advanced setup in the world but for 30 buckaroos! How can you beat that? Well I should have some TV headrests and stuff from my "source" coming soon so this is good for now.

Okay, so I took out everything out of the ugly bag and it all works. How can I mount and set this thing up so it doesn't have wires all over the place. It consists of a small very lightweight VCR and a TV unit, I plan on hooking up a Nintend0 64 to it but how would I power the thing? Is it gonna drain the hell out of my battery when if I just use the cigarette lighter? Is there any other way to set it up? Anyone have any expierence with this thing?

All and any comment are appreciated, thanks!

If you go to Radio Shak or circuit city or even a car audio shop they should AC to DC power converters. Be sure to pick up decent one because the cheap ones will overheat and keep blowing fuses. Monster Cable even makes them but you will be spending a lot of money though.

The lexus company has some very smart engineers. They designed a very powerful alternator. A piece of junk for mustang only has about 55-65 amps of power. However a LEXUS V8 usally has btwn 110-130 amps of juice. As long as you keep the engine running while you use this equipment you should be fine. Most people that large audio systems use a lot more power than what you are trying to do and they have no problem. Let me know if you have anymore problems.

Default Thanks marc...

Mine is a I6, does that change anything? Oh and one more thing, is there any way I can set this up so that I do not need to use the cigarette lighter as the power source?

If you have a lexus that has an optional V8 like the SC or GS you will have the large alternator. The safest thing to do is use the cirgarrette lighter. It is fused very well from the battery. You can run a lead (power wire) through the firewall and up to the battery but it is not necessary. The cigarrette ligher usually turns off if too much power is being used. If you need more outlets you can also get three-way splitter or get a surge protector to plug the appliances into and then plug the surge protector into the lighter. If you want to see my ride it is under gallery under SC and it is the 2nd or 3rd car the blue/green SC400 with chrome rims. Let me know if you have any more questions.
