I've been looking at the MTX 12" 8500 sub....It's sounds pretty good in a demo room, it also has a high spl rating so it should really pound on lower watts....going to feed it a MTX 801D which is 800 watts mono.
Does any one have any experience with these? I need a single 12" sub that will pound, advice?
I remember seeing a review in Car Audio Magazine a couple months back, I'm pretty sure it was for the 12" 8500 series. You may want to check that out. I think I remember it doing pretty well.
Also I wouldn't necessarily base my decision on the SPL rating they give, because the measurement technique for that can vary from one manufacturer to another and its frequency dependent. Plus with the amount of power people usually give to subwoofers, it doesn't hold as much value as it might for say midranges and tweeters. Hope that helps.
