Default Problem with my keyless entry

I have a 92 SC300, and when I use the keyless remote the driver side door doesnt want to unlock most of the time. The passenger side works fine everytime. It seems like the lock in the door doesn't have enough ***. I can hear it wanting to work when I hit the button but nothing happens. Anyone have any suggestions?

As old as the car is most likely a bad door lock actuator.

Although my keyless entry doesn't work, my drivers side was doing the same thing with door locks when I hit the button it would lock fine but would not unlock.

Took the whole actuator assembly apart and everything seemed fine. First odd thing was that if you pushed inward a little bit on the cable linkage and hit the button it worked fine. After fiddling with it we noticed the lever it moves to lock and unlock would get stuck if it moved just tiny bit "too far". The difference was like an 1/8 inch at the end of a 2 or 3 inch lever.

So anyway we managed to fix it by messing with the white tension thing or whatever it is called that is at the end of cable linkage where it connects to interior door handle/lock.

It still doesn't unlock when the cable is not hooked up to the lock lever by the door handle(meaning door panel off and linkage not hooked up), but it does when it is connected to that assembly which is all that matters.

So try messing with that white adjuster back and forth to change the tension and it might fix it, if not you might need a new door lock actuator which is like $200

I know some of you guys on here are die hard oe parts people but you can put an aftermarket actuator in that will work just as good. The better ones out there are harada and they can be picked up for around 8-15 bucks at a local stereo shop. I have been installing them for over 10 years now and have only replace 3. If your on a tight buget than it may be your best option.
