i relocated the battery in my 91 celica alltrac before i sold it ... i just bought the universal kit from summitracing.com but i think it could be done much cheaper if you can figure out a way to make sure the battery is secure. I ran the wire under the carpet through the passenger compartment but on the lexus you might not be able to find an easy in through (or around) the firewall As far as wire gauge ... i donno it was big tho lol

FWIW,

There is a risk in this type of installation. You are running an unfused battery lead through the pasenger compartment. If this wire is damaged and the conductor comes in contact with the frame you would get some impressive fireworks.

That's the problem, you can't easily fuse that wire because of the extremely high cranking current.

Default Fusing

You can get some large Fuses and holders from car audio compaines like stinger that use 1 or 2 ANL syle fuses (up to 300 Amp each) the crazy high amperage shouldnt matter beause all you are doing is protecting against a short and in the case of a short these would blow with out a problem. Hope this helps, Metal

Part# SHD2ANL

From what I found from Toyota their starter on a 4cyl draws 130-150 Amps and on a 6cyl draws 175 Amps (I cant see the 8cyl drawing that much more power) so you should be able to properly fuse with the fuse holder mentioned above.
