OK, well since no one here had a writeup on it, or any information at all I decided to do the work myself. After pulling the dvd/nav unit out of the trunk area and finding no parking brake input I pulled the head unit. Turns out the parking brake input is on the rear of the display unit itself. Second plug from the right, it is the WHITE wire on the bottom. (only white in the second plug, test to verify ground when brake engaged). So, I just cut that wire (so it would not backfeed to brake light on cluster) and grounded it. Viola! Video all the time.
I know, I know, not safe, blah blah blah.....neither is life
Seems, the nav will auto display as soon as the vehicle is going over 5mph and take the movie off, even with the parking brake feature disabled. I will also solve this problem soon, with a relay to the speed wire on the nav. Should take care of it, you do not need to be in park, just not moving, so we'll see what I find.
Does anybody know if you can get a traffic ticket for playing a video in the front while driving?
yes and in NYC it will go as wreckless driving with points. you cant have anything in drivers view, but the road. they will give you hard time for something hanging of your rearview mirror also.
