Unhappy System dead! AMP or Head Unit ?

Last night, the volume on my radio started to go up and down on its own. Now it wont come on at all. For some reason, yesterday there was alot heat coming from under the drivers-side colsole and floor area. could the heat have damaged the head unit? Also, anyone out there know if there is a way to pin point the issue (amp - head unit - Cd changer).

CD's are stuck in the changer (power light is on very dim)
I check both radio fuses(hood and kick pannel)

Any help would be great,

thank you.

I have the SC wiring diagram, that's the only thing that can help you at this point. I would pull both radio fuses for now; that sounds dangerous with things heating up like that.

PM me your email if you want that diagram, it will show you where all the wires should go and maybe you can use it to help find the a short or disconnected wire.

Everything should function without the CD changer, so try disconnecting that first. As far as the amp and HU, I'm not sure of a way to isolate either one to test them without removing them from the car.

A general electronics shop would probably run tests on them for $30-$50 each as a diagnosis fee.

Hope that helps. Good luck!
