Skipping Alpine Changer Driving Me Crazy!
I got my whole system installed around Christmas time and it was working fine until within the last month. My 12 disc changer that I bought BRAND NEW has decided to stop playing 10 out of 12 CDs. They're not scratched as they all play in my house and computer, and last time I bought a new CD it went straight from the case to the changer and by the 3rd or 4th song, it was skipping! Is there anyway to clean the lense or find out what the problem is? It is the weak link in my system and I can't listen to tunes without it. Any help would be very much appreciated. I'm starting to resort to the radio!

Had almost the same thing happen with a 1214 and an older 605 changer. Starts skipping first, though I never had them "miss" a cd change entirely. The service facility took a look at the 605 and said that it needed calibration - this wasn't the case since it would skip different discs at different intermittent times. My guess was that it needed a new laser assembly, but the repair facility wasn't willing to do the service.
The place that sent out the player for service was United Audio, now Tweeter. I don't know who actually took a look at the unit as they won't disclose that information.

What is Alpine's warrany deal. Are they as strict as Xtant and others? The only place I could have bought the changer was Car Toys and I refuse to go to those rip offs so I did the cheap thing (which may have been the dumb thing) and bought it new off ebay. It was cheap enough and if need be I could get another (maybe better one?), but if the warranty's all good I'd much rather check in on that. Thanks for the help.
