NAV Entry While Driving...
Is there anyway to setup the NAV in my recently purchased GX470 so that it allows you to type addresses destinations and other features while driving. Once you start to move, the touch keys grey out and you need to stop to complete or enter the information. I know that this is not the safest thing to do, but I do not appreciate Lexus playing big brother and disallowing the function. I installed an after market Alpine NAV in my other vehicle and that system warns you not to make entries while driving but then allows you to do it after you agree that it is something that should be not done while driving.
Thanks....
Thanks....

There are a few ways to override but they way you'll want to do it is by using a switch. The navigation override activates if you are going above a certain speed. If you put a switch on the speed pulse input, you can flip the switch off and input whatever you want.

What other ways are there??
So is there no way to disable the lock out through software by putting nav into debug/technician mode?? I really don't feel like having to hardwire a switch and have to flip it everytime I want access while moving.
Appreciate the solution though.

There has to be a way for some sort of 'debug' or other mode.... I just purchased an 05 RX a few days ago and I swear that we could use the nav system while in motion when driving home. Now we can't...
it really sux..
I'd really like to find who makes the nav system, maybe someone has a hack for the system.... I'm going to search around for the manufacturer, anyone else have any ideas of the manufacturer on the 05 RX?

that is the one thing I hate about japanese navigation systems (ie nissan lexus), they play big brother and force you to come to a complete stop to enter information in. This is rediculous because most of the time when I use it my passenger is trying to enter it in for me.
my mercedes was CD based but I love its navigation 100x more because it allowed me to use the navigation whenever I felt like it.
I hope someone at lexus is listening because this big-brother feature is very annoying!

Nav and Hands Free Disabled
Finally got the Treo 650 to talk to the LS 430 Hands Free, but similar to Nav, keypad and one touch dialing disabled as soon as you drive. I can still dial off the phone, which is more dangerous than the nav screen in my opinion. Has there been a solution to this annoying safety feature placed upon us? Thanks for your response.
