Default Placement of W7

Ok i have finally came to a conclussion i will definitely be purchasing one 12 in w7 woofer, i heard theyre the best. Now questions come to mind on where to position it. My 92 sc400 has stock system for the time being . Now i was thinking for a setup for a trunk which involves some neon, but i dont want to go with fiberglass way too much work and money. I considered two ideas putting the woofer,in the trunk, but that will create a whole lot of rattling , next is to place it inside the car maybe in the rear deck but i doubt it might fit there. The amps are no problem, the setup is not a problem either its just placing the woofer in the right place. I am looking to do some work with someone close to NY that is looking to set up their own system, summer is coming up and 4 hands are better than 2 , so if anyone is looking to install a new system as i am and would like to work with a partner on the weekends hit me up. or just PM me

You have no options on a W7 but a trunk box. They are massive.

Option: Build box to sit on floor of trunk so that woofer can be positioned just below stock woofer hole (with stock woofer removed and placed neatly and carefully in trash). Leave clearance for woofer forward maximum excursion distance, so that it does not hit underside of deck. You can attach brackets to the underside of deck to prevent box from tipping or moving (also brackets into trunk floor to prevent sliding).

well im thinking even if it comes out somewhat what about mounting it inside the cabin by cutting the hole of the rear deck bigger, only worry is it wont clear the gas tank, and i dont want my rear window cracking im thinking now i should go with a 10 in instead i heard its more than enough.

There is no way in hell a 12W7 will clear the gas tank if it were mounted on the rear deck (in an SC). No way. For that sub, you'll have to kiss most of your trunk space goodbye. If you aren't dead-set on a 12" sub, wait around for a few weeks and I may have some fiberglass dealies that may interest you. Think: completely hidden, clean and loud bass, no loss of trunkspace.

I did a similar setup but I am using a 10W7. It's plenty of bass for me. In fact way more than I ever use. If you fire it through factory hole make sure to seal it against rear deck and also make sure you allow enough clearance for the sub movement.
