i used the search button but couldnt come up with
an answer to my question
is it possible to upgrade to dvd from hard drive navigation
and if so how much is involved

I'd think its very extensive as the jump to the DVD nav happened at the same time as GS400 ->GS430, LS400->LS430, so different connections / wiring will likely be expected.
Not only the source (HD vs DVD) is different, but the screen on the DVD-based nav is larger & has slightly different controls.
Personally I'd do aftermarket before I took this on.
