How can I disable navigation lockl out
Hi,
I really love my Lexus Navigation system. It is probably one of the best on the market. But, I hate the safety lock out that prevents entering a destination while the car is moving. Is there anyway to disable this lock out?

Navigation computer run of the Speed signal from the dash board, when the speed signal is no 0 (not moving) then it unlock the buttons.
Some people put a switch in this wire to temporary override the lockout. Other got fancy, install a small timer circuit which connect to your destination button. When someone push the destination button, it activate the timer, cut the speed signal to the computer for about 60 sec or so, allow you to change something then the timer will reconnect the signal automatically or hit map button to cancel.
this required you to open the screen a part.

where do you buy this timer circuit? can this timer circuit be used to watch DVD movies on the navigation screen also when driving?

I am also interested in finding out which wire this is because I'm not sure if the '98-'00 have the same color coded wires as the '01-'04 models since they have a different Navi system.

i'm just wondering if anyone ever thought about buying a second display off ebay, then taking that apart to the bare components needed so that it doesn't record vehicle speed.....but then take the original speed sensor wire and hook it up to the secondary, not so correctly functioning nor stock speedo....

I tried it on my '01 LS430 and it partially works. Unfortunately, after just a few seconds of no SPD signal input the nav computer assumes that SPD has failed, and starts computing speed based on the GPS signals, and the keyboard greys out again.....

It makes sense that the GPS computer gets confused with this mod because if you block or by-pass the speed signal, the GPS computer won't be able to keep up your location while you are driving. So the cursor on the nav will be off or something like that.
