does anyone know if i will need to provide a key for the installer to hide under the dash inorder for the remote start feature to work?? and has anyone used this alarm on their es? are you happy with it? i have a 2003

i have remote start on my 97, but i have no idea what youre talking about... why would you need a key under the dash?
because lexus uses transponder keys now so if the car does not detect the programed chip then it wont start even if u have a key the is cut right. so inorder for a remote start to work you would have to most likely hide a key under the dash so when the car gets the signal to start from the alarm it will detect the chip.
i am not sure about your 97. but i think that is how it works now

i still dont know what the hell black2003 is talkin bout, but anyway
aznxteddy:
i have the alladin 2000 - its fairly new i guess and it has a few bugs, but the pros outweigh the cons
its a good alarm.. pager n all that stuff on it
i paid $350 including install (my friend owns an audio shop and he did the install for me) the actual alarm was about $130.. he knows his way around a lexus so i trusted him with the install (which took roughly 6 hours including programming)

ooo Nice, yea i want to get the pager ones, its hot,
and i think i kno what black2003 is talkin about, you know on some cars i think some of the benz's you dont have to put the key in the ignition the car can detect the key sensor inside the car and you can just press a button to start, or also the ignition needs to detect the sensor from your key, so that it will start (anti theft feature ) .

yes all lexus's have that anti theft feature in the key. remember how the dealer said that you need to hold the card near the ignition when u use the wallet key. that is because the card contains the chip needed for the computer to allow the signal to go through to the started
probably not transponder keys really didnt start until 1999-2000

I have the Viper responder and love it. It is very good with range and protection. The remote is kinda bulky but it has a light for darkness and vibrate mode for loud places. Overall I am very happy with this product.
As for the chip in the key, every late 97 and up has the chip in the key. Goodluck and let us know what you decide on.

you need a dei 555F bypass module or a 555u. the 555f doesn't need a key, the 555u does. If someone is telling you to give them a key to leave behind your dashboard so your car will remote start, back away slowly toward the door.

just cut the key in half your self .there is nothing wrong with using the key ,personally i don't like using the 555f i seen a couple gone bad.

Well here is the thing, the f module doesn't learn in on all the new cars so they are not always reliable. On the other hand the u module works every time no questions so you are right youdon't need to put the key under the dash but it is a good idea to use the u module instead of the f.danm you need a dei 555F bypass module or a 555u. the 555f doesn't need a key, the 555u does.
