Default DIY Factory Alarm Programming?

okay, i found many threads about various CBEST settings/options.

from what i can find, it seems that the factory alarm settings can only be changed by the dealership(s).

i was just wondering if it is possible to change settings yourself. i really do not like the passive alarm setting. it is rather quite annoying.

any help, comment, or advice will be appreciated.

i am not sure if the CBEST settings can be done by, for example, open door, shut door, hit door lock three times, etc. OR if it can only be set by using a unit available to dealerships hooked up to the car.
