Default Anyone tried non-runflats own their LC500?

The runflats on my C7 Corvertte were horrible. Terrible ride, very noisy, and little traction under 45 degrees. I switched them out for Continental Extreme Contact tires and it truly transformed the car. Just wondering fi anyone has done something similar with the Bridgestone or Michelin runflats? They seem quiet enough but the ride is bit harsh over certain roads.....not sure if it's the runflasts or the 21 inch wheels/tires.

Have considered this, but for the 21" OEM matching size, the only non run flat fitment are standard Pirelli P zero which also came stock on my previous 991. It wasn't a very good tire.

There is a matching fit Pirelli P Zero run flat (PZ4). Than there are the 3 OEM run flats brands -- per Tire Rack. Not a whole lot of choice if staying with stock sizes.

Also have heard anecdotally, that the the suspension is set up for run flats and a switch to non run flats could effect handling negatively.. Not sure if there is truth to that.

Like to hear if anyone has experience on this...

There is also the Pirelli PZero Luxury and the Michelin Pilot Super Sport available in OEM sizes. I think I'd trying the Michelins before the Pirellis. These are available at Discount Tire.

An additional perspective to factor into your decision... I hit a nasty, early spring pothole first day out last year. Split the sidewall, but the tire never lost air. The additional thickness of the RF tire likely saved me. No run-flats means you need a plan for a possible flat. I've found (as others have reported) that Comfort mode (with the stock tires) provides a ride that I wouldn't consider "harsh". Certainly not LS caliber, but better than I anticipated for a car like the LC.

^^^ Point well taken. There is always the risk of an incident. I have been running Corvettes without runflats for many years and never had an issue (knock on wood). I always had a compressor, slime kit, etc. in the car. Thankfully, I never had to use them. I probably won't go out and dump the runflats right away, but it would be nice to get the best out of this car in both performance and comfort.

Yes I can unequivocally say that for such cars that's a fact. Not only does it apply to the car, Michelin had to build more than 40 variants of it's Pilot Super Sport before Lexus engineers approved it for homologation on the LC. They (and Bridgestone) are the only two who offer an homologated 21'' fitment for the LC.

Apparently they built 1200 Michelin prototypes:

And mine has the Bridgestones......

Then that would be 30 prototypes X 4 tires per car = 1,200 tires.

I am not unhappy with the run flats on my LC500. However the run flats on my LS500 were HORRIBLE. I junked them (a lot of money down the drain) and mounted standard Vredestein Quatrac tires. They transformed the car!! Now it drives like a LS should and handles beautifully. Tire stores locally will not mount run flat tires as they get too many complaints.

I wouldn't say the Bridgestones are horrible, but when they need to be replaced, I will go with a non-runflat.

I'm fairly sure that my LC rolls on Dunlop RF's.

^ Correct. Lexus added Dunlop Sport Maxx to the suite of standard RF tires sometime late in 2018.

I can't imagine the tires making much of a MPG impact. Especially properly inflated RF's.
