my understanding there's no non runflat in the same sizes as the run-flats (might be true just for fronts) - but going to the next width is no biggie. loads of threads on here about tires - at LC forum, select Search This Forum and enter run flats

In that case can anyone suggest a tire size that would work with the factory sport package rims that would allow me to get away from run flats. I've always loved the Continental Extreme Contact DSW tires. But I'm not finding them in the stock tire size. I need something with as much sidewall as possible as pot holes are abundant in my area. I look like I'm drunk dodging pot holes in most my cars with 22s.

Those are actually my favorite all-season tires I run them on all my vehicles but I usually have 22 in wheels. This car I pulled the trigger on the stock sport package 21 inchers off eBay because I actually like the look and since the LC is rare anyway I figured I didn’t need to do much to make it stand out. But tire options are slim and I can’t get my favs for this size.

Non-runflat
I just changed my OEM Bridgestone for Michelin Primacy Tour 245x45x20XL. Wonderful for no noise and smooth ride. Would not say handling was improved-still good. The Bridgestones pitted badly and sounded like an off road pickup. The Lexus dealer declares there was nothing wrong with my car. I have tried an aftermarket donut spare for a LS460 (which has same center and bolt specs) but the inside diameter is not sufficient to clear the calipers. Wondering if anyone has found a spare replacement for LS500. Just going with a pump and hoping I don't blow the side wall. Still can't believe Lexus put such junk on this car.

junk? might be a bit harsh.
mine came with the dunlop 21" runflats and they're fine. can be a bit loud on very rough roads, but on smooth roads they're quiet. ride is fine too. i'm sure a non-runflat will be quieter/smoother but i don't believe the stock size (on 21's) can be found in non-runflats although close. since i only have 1500mi. on them it's not urgent to figure it out yet.
anyway, best of luck with the michelins (EXCELLENT tires), and welcome.

I have never liked the run flats on any other cars I had but the Michelin Pilot Super sports that came on my LC500 are fantastic. Hard to tell them from a non run flat to be honest.

That’s the truth. Just punctured the Passenger Front tire (Bridgestone) with a screw which was in an unserviceable part of the tire (tread was too close to the side wall and could not be patched). $458 later and all is well. It’s a shame because the tires have just over 7,900 miles on them. Was considering replacing all 4 with the Michelins but I couldn’t justify the cost with such low miles. For this vehicle, you have to pay to play. It’s still an awesome vehicle and gets noticed every time it gets driven. Where I live, it’s very rare to see one in the wild.

I'm not too fond of run-flats and having been a BMW driver, and I have had them on non-M cars since 2008. On M-cars, they have regular tires and an "inflation kit," but on non-M cars, I have swapped them.
I'll never forget blowing out a front tire on a pothole in February in Chicago and having to wait for the flatbed. The driver at first thought I wanted help changing the tire. I told him that I didn't have a spare because the car came from the factory with run-flats.
He then asked, "well, if the car has run-flats, why do you need a tow?"
I said, "because I swapped them for regular tires (in this case, Pilot Alpins)."
He said, "Well, that was stupid!"
I wanted to shoot back that these tires rode better than the run-flats. That they handled way better. That the risk of an unfixable puncture with modern tires was almost zero.
But he was right. I couldn't argue with him. No handling or performance advantage would make up for the 2 hours I was waiting for a tow on a Friday night. I was lucky I wasn't on the side of an interstate or some 2 lane country road.
Run flats are so good today (by comparison) its not worth any perceived advantage in performance or ride.
Just my $.02
