Just installed Scrap Armor (this should have been factory). Leaving work 2nd day of ownership got a small scrap - UGH. Ordered Scrap Armor that night.
I installed it myself - pretty straight forward.
First install the left and right pieces before the center piece. The left and Right pieces start near the tire using one existing bolt (only one - all else are drilled). Be sure to tuck the first pieces under the underbelly of the car before adding the bolt. Then drilled from tire to center. No need to install bolts but a few turns as you need to leave them loose enough to leave a 1/4” gab for the silicone.
After all screws in for left and right then center the center piece perfectly and install its bolts. There is a line that will one up perfectly for the center to the left right (pictured below). Before staring the silicone, uninstall the far left and far right screw of the center piece. You need to do this so you can silicone the left and right piece all the way. Have everything ready before staring the silicone. Like plenty of shop disposable towels to wipe excess. Silicone the left and the then right side. Than the center. Install the 2 bolts removed for the center. Tighten all screws. Spray the silicone and clean it up. I used my finger (much better than the scrapper) - I may loose my finger, but worth the sacrifice for the LC. After all is smooth be sure it has 100% coverage and no gaps. If if does, be sure to cover those areas.
Now enjoy with a little Very hard to see from any angle Center piece lines up with the left and right pieces
less stress.
Feel free to ask any more questions - I am way into the bourbon and may have left off stuff.
Does the armor go to the leading edge of the front lip? especially from the last picture, it looks like it doesn't. That leading edge part is where i got a few nicks in my maserati before and would be my biggest concern.
Also it screws into the bumper right? if you end up removing it for whatever reason (maybe you want to install a bodykit), doesnt the bottom of the bumper have a lot of these small screw holes?
Agree with the rest of the gents that it looks great!
It does not cover the leading edge that is angled down to the bottom. It starts at the bottom flat surface of the car. If you ever remove it - you would have holes in the plastic bumper.
Anytime you drill holes to attach anything (whether functional improvement or not) to the body of your car, dealers treat as a negative impact on vehicle value. My LC is my forever car so I would never be concerned with that issue.
Just had Scrape Armor installed on my new-to-me 2022 LC inspiration by the body shop repairing the front bumper from prior owner (or dealerships) scraping the he!! out of the entire undersurface. Bodyshop did amazing repair and repaint then installed the Scrape Armor just as you did. Looks great and hard to see it unless under the car as you said. You're right, it should be factory given the low front ground clearance. Combined with my front camera install, should help a lot. Agree that it would be nice if it lipped up a little on the leading edge for some front protection, too.
Hey @Ephilyaw it has been a year since you installed the Scrape Armor. How is it holding up? This and the universal fit SLiPLO are the only options I am finding. The Scrape Armor seems like a better choice to help even out the possible impact of road debris along with better coverage for scrape protection. I would rather have something screwed in than stuck on anyway.
I know it has been a short time @LC500Dan any input you have or anyone else that has this?
