Default Coilovers for Daily Commute with Stock Wheels

I am looking to get coilovers for my LC500 coupe for the sake of reducing the gap between the 21” wheels and the fenders.

I live in a city that got a good amount of rough roads and pot holes, so a brand that is known for durability and comfiness is a must. I understand that staying with OEM suspension is much better if living in such a place, but I already made up my mind to get the coilovers regardless of the slight reduction that it will cause in regards to comfiness (I assume)

I am planning to get 22” wheels in the future too.

Kindly advise me which brand and model you recommend based on first hand experience! I really need an expert and genuine advise please. Thank you

We have done and sold a handful of Tom's Racing coilovers. One of the best and honestly there's not many options out there as well.

Josh, are the Tom's coilovers adjustable, and if so, electronically, or just manually?

Years ago I had some Tein coilovers with their electronic EDFC which was great because I could set for comfort or rock firm.

Thanks guys, but I need more people to chime in to make a decision this week!

RSR, Blitz, Tom’s, Novel…etc, if we disregard the cost factor, what makes a coilover from a known brand better than another one?

I didn’t find any technical head to head comparisons or first hand users feedback comparing between these brands, only marketing materials and paid reviews

Your support is much needed and appreciated

Improved ride quality and reduced ride height via coil overs tend not to go hand in hand. Larger wheels with smaller sidewalls are also not conducive to good ride quality. I get it.. you want to "improve" the appearance.. but everything you are doing is in direct contrast to maintaining ride quality. And in a town noted for rough roads/potholes, you are possibly subjecting your car to more damage (to tires, rims, suspension components etc).

That said, a typical quality branded Coilover will meet some kind of regulation standard.. In Germany they must be TUV rated to be used on the street for instance. I bet other countries have other ratings. The "better designed" tend to have better ride qualities

Respectfully, I doubt you'll find more than a handful of people on the planet (and thus less on here) that have put coilovers on an LC500.

Thanks for your feedback, I am not looking to “improve” comfiness compared to stock. It os hard if not impossible to get better than OEM setup for that purpose.

I was asking which aftermarket brand got a reputation for being comfy and reliable compared to other manufacturers (not OEM)

You mean people tend to go more for springs? Because there are tens if not hundreds of lowered LC500’s out there on the internet. Just search LC500 wheels or LC500ホイール to see what I mean

I just got an email back from TEIN Japan and another reseller saying that they don’t do coilovers for the LC anymore, yet they custom manufacture them and the lead time is approx. 4 months.

I don’t like the idea of one size fits all kind of coilovers where they just fix the brackets to make it fit any car they need without proper R&D of what recommended height and suspension type suits the LC the best.

I am currently leaning towards “RSR Best-i Active” coilovers since you can keep the Active Variable Suspension (AVS) working with these coilovers, while you have to disconnect it with almost all other brands

thoughts?
