FYI Mecum charges 10% to the buyer and 5/10% to the seller depending on reserve (no reserve = 5%).

Which means the buyer paid nearly $140K for this car. I can't imagine looking at the most expensive car Lexus sells in North America and saying "I'll take this but it needs $40K worth of interior work". Better to just go order a bespoke one, the person who bought it can surely afford it.

As to the vehicle's future collectability: many reviews say just that. Matt Farah from Smoking Tire, for example. If Lexus had built this car 5-10 years from now, it would be a V6 turbo or hybrid with muted sound. This is the last best non-turbo/hybrid engine'd sportscar Lexus will ever build. It's not going to get LFA money -- there's 500 of those vs thousands of these -- but they will definitely be collectable. It's not a question of if, but when.

Unless my financial situation changes drastically I can’t ever see selling mine. Only 44yo and would always love to have this in the garage. If I ever needed another car I’d still keep this one for a fun car.
