Default Wiper arms

Is it safe to just manually pull up on the wiper arms (for cleaning purposes) to give you room then push them back down?? I tried it yesterday while drying off my car after a wash and they came up pretty easy but I cant find any special procedure for cranking them up --- don't need them all the way up (unless it's wiper blade changing time). thanks

Most Lexus models have an IN SERVICE position - I'm not lucky enough to have an LC but in our ES and RX, that position is activated by pulling the wiper stem forward within a few seconds of shutting off the engine. Blades then come up onto the windshield so you can change the blades.

I just pull them up the screen as far as necessary and whenever I wash the car. I then usually "park" them somewhere near their normal rest position. Never really given it much thought but was grateful to find out they moved without any resistance and as if it was always intended they should.
