Fault scanner recommendations?
I just caught this article in my latest CNET Road Show newsletter. This might help your search.

I purchased the FIXD OBD2 reader some time back but have not used it. It nice to know that it has a favorable rating and I’m sure that I’ll plug it in at some point just to see what’s up with the vehicle. So far, the LC has been flawless with no need for diagnostics.
Thanks. The diagnostic process to determine which one to buy is every bit as complex as the diagnostic process to analyze a car. After doing some additional online research, I just bought an Innova 5410. I'll try it out over the weekend and report back.
(In our case, acquiring a scanner seems prudent. We just returned to the Lexus family after many years ago, buying two Lexi within a few weeks, but the nearest dealer is 2 1/2 hours away. As bullet-proof as we expect these to be, it one day may come in handy to be able to determine the severity of any check engine light that tries to ruin our day.)

We have at this time eight vehicles including two very modified track cars. So there is rarely a time that one of our two scanners is not in use.
Putting new O2 sensor on a Lotus Elise in the garage today. Will use the scanner to let me know when there are enough tests ready to have an inspection.
The chance of getting a code with our LCs is quite remote. They were put together by meticulous craftmen with remarkable work ethic. I pretty much built the Lotus.

Were you able to get the detector wired up for a mirror mount? I have not done it yet for the LC but have for several other vehicles. Blendmounts in the nicer cars.
The problem occurred weeks later, when I clumsily loosened the connection and then more clumsily tried to reconnect it without taking due precautions. That blew a fuse, which in turn took down a number of electronic features (the fuse was replaced and all is well now.)
I bought a new mirror tap from BlendMount (and new fuses) and plan to do it again this weekend.

If I may ask, what happened? You completed the mod successfully the last I heard. Did either of the spades come out? Was re-install not successful? Just curious what happened. Your response could be very helpful to others looking to do this mod. So far, my mod remains successful with no issues.
Hi. I think our posts crossed. See right above. I tugged a little too hard on the wire tap and broke the connection from the spades to the actual connector. Trying to reconnect it on the fly, I shorted it out. Lesson learned. Next time (this weekend), I'm going to be more careful and I'm also going to use a tiny dollop of liquid electrical tape to reinforce the connection.
Pro Tip No.1: The LC requires "low profile mini blade" fuses in the fuse box under the steering wheel.
Pro Tip No. 2: If you are steady of hand and sharp of eye, it is possible to spear the appropriate wire taps behind the mirror as per @FLBill without disconnecting the mirror plug. Your mileage may vary.
For a fuller discussion of the process, plus photos, see this thread, starting around post No. 11:
