LC500 spontaneous frame crack (or something else?)
Good luck ! Had the same issue with my previous 2018 executive LC which I traded in last April for a sport plus 2017 LC at a Lexus dealership. The ramp in my underground parking is quite difficult to handle with almost a 90 degree angle and I suspect the crack was due to this as I could ear a frame flexing noise when leaving my parking. No issue yet with the new LC (fingers crossed).
Same frame crack as yours came after months of frame flexing from my car when exiting my parking. The crack was only noticeable when driving slow and stoping and when accelerating. I did not advise Lexus when I traded the car.
When you say crack, was whatever car that applies to actually diagnosed as a crack and if so where on the car if you know?
Sorry if I am being thick Roger, but what car was the "crack" on, was it your "previous 2018 executive LC" (a model I have never heard of) or on your "sport plus 2017 LC"?

Thanks, Roger, for the clarification and not wishing to worry you, but I don't think it is mileage/kilometre related given mine only has 18000 kilometres. It seems it is more related to the build date of the car with those that appear to be most affected being 2017 or 2018 years. Frankly I struggle to believe there is a physical crack in the unitary body of the car, it's simply unheard of, and I've never heard from anyone saying they have a crack in any car. I'd also say that the rear end of mine was gutted and still no crack found. Quite what the problem is no one knows.
Interesting to find this discussion.
I've had my 2018 LC 500 for 4 weeks.
My first experience was driving up into a driveway on an angle, right hand front wheel up first, and the noise and feeling had me thinking I'd actually hit something. But at 5 kph, that didn't make much sense. It has happened twice since in similar circumstances. Both times I can feel the sudden thud through the seat.

After about 3 months at the dealer and all their experts involved trying to solve this issue, they couldn’t figure it out…..
and now its much worse than before. The sound comes with every single turn and body movement. Its giving me a huge headache and i am officially hating my LC now.

They should buy back this car from you.
Edit: I am also looking at a BMW 850/M8, so I also fouling around at Bimmer forum. What I can tell you is, BMW buy back a 850 just because the collision avoidance system does weird things to shift the lane slightly as if there was a phantom car merging in to hit it.
Although, the owner could just disable that function and enjoy the car, but he argued with BMW and BMW could not fit it. BMW bought it back.
Your issue is much worse since you could not just disable it.. Lexus should buy your car back, end of the conversation. You deserve this.

Hi microsup,
45000 miles.
I'm the third owner.
So far all events have occurred where there has been a significant change in surface angle. First event was a driveway (not mine), the other 2 have been slow turning around a corner where the road drops away. All three have been situations that have forced the car to effectively twist or force the suspension to work well out of symmetry. Negotiating speed humps or drive ways square on don't cause anything to happen.

btw what kind of sound do you hear? Is it more like a click nock or something like squeak or crack? You have a coup right? There is difference in a problem between coups and verts. Verts clicking sound goes from soft top locking mechanism, the coups experiencing a squeaking sound in the bottom part of B pilar where reinforcement brace connected to the body.
some people experiencing that squeaking sound during start stop accelerate/decelerate and body flex.
there is no 100% solution yet how to fix it.
ok, so if it only happens when surface of the road changes significantly then it is not that bad, slow turning is also one of the indicator of click sound.

It's the coupe version.
The noise is a loud dull bang. I couldn't use the word crack as there is no sharpness to the sound or feel when it happens.
The sound and feel I can best liken it to is as if running over something that flies up under the car and hits the floor pan.
It would be nice to know exactly what it is. The first step n trying to remedy it.
I wonder how many of these year models out there do suffer the same problems as described in this thread. And if Lexus themselves have ever taken an interest in identifying and rectifying those problems, if only to preserve the reputation of the Lexus brand.
It's crazy that this issue persists without Lexus addressing it in some way. Here's a summary of some of the solutions:
This is so maddening, especially on a vehicle that's supposed to be a Lexus flagship vehicle.
- Re-greasing, then re-tightening the bolts at a particular torque in a particular order.
- Applying squeak-tape to the area, then re-tightening the bolts in a particular order.
- Welding the area.
