I bought one because I needed it in the past and would use it for rental cars. But, it won't work on the LC. It doesn't provide android auto, it mimics a phone to a headset that already runs AA! Without AA already installed, this device has nothing to speak with on the cables side. So yeah, you can pair your phone with it, but it can't connect to an android auto head unit that isn't there.
The one I got for Carplay works flawlesssly. Plug and play, never a hiccup. Hope you have the same experience.
Same here. I had to have the Lexus software update performed at my local Lexus Dealer to get Apple CarPlay on my 2018, I then purchased the wireless dongle about a year and a half ago and it has performed flawlessly from the beginning.
Still waiting for my indiegogo android auto wireless dongle.
held up mostly by chip shortages, but they're launching a redesign (diff chip) and i'll get it at some point.

Because it doesn't provide android auto to a non-android auto head unit. It is merely a virtual cable, so you don't have to plug in the phone. Without android auto at the other end of the cable it has nothing to talk to. From the website (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/aawireless#/)
Do you have an Android Auto compatible car or multimedia unit?
Would you love to be able to connect wirelessly without the use of cables?
AAWireless is a simple Plug & Play device which allows your Android Auto compatible unit to use a WiFi connection instead of connecting the phone with a USB cable.
I think a lot of people bought this thinking it provides android auto. It doesn't, and it only provides a wireless connection to AA you already have, which we don't =(
there are a few threads on this topic here on this forum. Search around a bit and you will see.
if your dealer pleads ignorance, find another dealer.
---CORRECTION--
I need to correct my last post. Android Auto was NOT available for USA models until 2021 model year. It was available in other countries but not here. My upgrade on my 2018 was for Apple Carplay & Alexa. I use Apple Carplay myself.
