Default Gen 10 vs Gen 11 Infotainment Systems

I was just wondering if any of you would know the differences between Gen 10 and Gen 11 infotainment systems. I know that they released Gen 11 on the 2021 LC, and it now has capability of running Android Auto on it. Also, the resolution seems to be a little better. If I'm not wrong, they also added a few more functionalities across the vehicle, such as toggling the option of moving the driver's seat back when exiting/turning off vehicle.

My main question though is the following: Do any of you know if the differences between Gen 10 and Gen 11 systems are just software related or hardware related? This could potentially be an idea for a 3rd party (or even LEXUS THEMSELVES) to install Gen 11 on prior year models (prior to 2021 model year) if it's only a software based difference.

Thanks!

Thanks for the find. It's somewhat disappointing that Lexus won't retrofit older models with the new Gen 11 infotainment. Just push us loyal customers to buy the newer model JUST for the infotainment, and a few other minor upgrades....no bueno Lexus.

Can you name a car manufacturer that upgrades older models to the newest standard?

But I get understand your point.

There are some of the other manufacturers now that offer OTA upgrades like BMW.

True, but fwiw, the BMW software updates don’t always work and, when they do, they usual trigger as many new problems as they solve old problems. It’s one reason why I’m thinking about moving from BMW back to Lexus.
