Exhaust valves
So i actually did this MOD today on my 2021 Convertible.
I did notice that exhaust is much louder on the low end, but now i'm not sure if its doing something funky on the upper end of the RPM range. Maybe the low end note is now causing me to think there is no higher end exhaust sound. But even at WOT, the car seems awfully quiet above ~4.5K RPM. So I may plug this back together.

no way i'd ever do this. in fact, i took out the 'sound booster' snake pipe under the hood that blasts sound into the cabin at higher rpms. still plenty loud enough for me, but no on/off louder.
what i'm missing is, the whaling and screaming sound i love so much. 10-25% throttle input, between 3.5k RPMs - 6.5k RPMs. I'm no longer hearing that, and also missing the WOT grunt you hear from the exhaust all the way to redline. Ever since i got the car, i've been keeping my throttle position in that sweet spot i love so much, Heck, i literally only drive the car in that RPM range. I thought i was very familiar with how the car sounds in that range, but today it was totally gone. Maybe it was the wind (loud), but i'll try taking it back out tomorrow to see again.
yes, so 100% idle to about 4k rpms, the exhaust is loud. You hear crackles, pops when you take your foot off the gas.

you should try your connection hooked up and see (hear) how the sound differs, and if it is restored....lexus engineers may have the sound tuned that is disturbed when you mess around with it (as in duh ! ) ....
When I first got my LC, I did the mod & unplugged the connectors. After awhile I found it annoying with the exhaust open all the time. I reconnected the plugs & when I want the extra growl I just select Sport +. Plus when you unplug them you have to make sure sure you protect all four connectors or they can corrode.
and that's the thing, it does not resemble Sport + mode at all IMO.
I actually plugged everything back, prefer this setting and would rather drive in Sport + mode.

With the valves unplugged (modded) they are in the same position as Sport+ - wide open. What is probably the difference you are hearing is there are some fuel injection and timing changes made while in Sport+. Try leaving them unplugged and selecting Sport+ and see what you hear. It should be what you remember from Sport+. What you will notice is that in the other drive modes it will consistently be louder than before. Also remember, in Sport+ the transmission will shift differently and it won't shift up past 6th gear.
