Default Emergency Brake

Is there an emergency brake? When parking on a hill and pressing the park button in front of the shift the car will not hold firm as any car will. I can actually rock in the seat and still feel and hear the slight movement. I couldn't find anything in the manual at least nothing I could clearly decipher.

The Emergency Brake in the LC is applied electronically via the "P" park button. If yours is not holding bring it too a dealer for adjusting.

In the 2018 Owners Manual, it is listed as "Parking Brake" on Page 162.

As I recall there is a parking switch low down by your right knee below the ignition button.

The parking brake can also be programmed to activate automatically whenever you select the ''P'' park button.

You can also engage the parking brake in an emergency while moving. But good luck remembering that and finding it! lol

There are two separate issues at play here.

The P button on the console engages the parking pin in the trans.

The lever in the lower panel (beside your right knee in a left hand drive mode) engages the rear brake pads with an ECU controlled motor.

^^^^That's not the what I understand by reading the manual. From reading the manual it looks like they operation is the same, except the button by the right knee is engaging the PB manually. Pressing the "P" button on the console invokes automatic mode.

I thought that too, but when we had it on the alignment rack tried to release the electric parking brake to get it to roll backwards and forwards (part of the laser alignment process). The only way we could figure out to get it in neutral was to leave it run and select neutral. So naturally, I started investigating if there is a way to disengage the parking pin in the trans while the key is off. This led me to operate the manual brake and check the rear brake operation, which it seems to do. If anyone knows how to get the LC to freewheel with the engine off, I'd really like to know how to do it.
